11 51 000 Removing and installing/replacing coolant pump (B36A/B38A)

Only perform these tasks on an engine that has cooled down.

Recycling: 

Catch and dispose of drained coolant.

Observe country-specific waste disposal regulations.

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Remove ALTERNATOR
• Drain COOLANT

Removal: 

Release screws (2 and 3) from coolant pump (1).

Lift out coolant pump (1) upwards.

Remove coolant pump (1).

Installation: 

Sealing bead (1) is applied to housing of coolant pump.

Installation note: 

If the sealing bead (1) protrudes slightly and if the sealing bead (1) is not damaged, the coolant pump can be reinstalled.

If the sealing bead (1) is damaged, it must be removed with a suitable tool and replaced by the SEALING COMPOUND (2.2)  (Loctite 5970).

Sealant height approximately 2 to 2.5 mm.

Tighten screws (2 and 3) on coolant pump (1).

Tightening torque: 11 51 2AZ .
