11 14 200 Detaching and attaching/replacing timing case cover on front at bottom (B36A/B38A)

Special tools required:

IMPORTANT:

Engines with surface sealant:

Application time of sealing compound maximum 12 min.

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove UNDERBODY PROTECTION
Remove VIBRATION DAMPER .
Remove BELT TENSIONER for alternator.

Removal:

Loosen screws (1).

Release screws (1).

Unfasten screws (2).

Remove timing case cover.

Installation:

Clean sealing surfaces with special tool 11 4 471 .

IMPORTANT: Application time of sealing compound maximum 12 min.

Sealing compound height approximately 2 - 2.5 mm.

Apply SEALING COMPOUND (2.2) as shown.

Assemble special tool 2 357 900 as shown.

IMPORTANT:

Do not use engine oil or lubricant.

Special tool must be resting on timing case cover (1).

Carefully push special tool 2 357 900 through sealing ring into timing case cover and abut.

Remove fitting aid (2).

Fit special tool 2 357 900 with timing case cover (1) on crankshaft hub (2).

NOTE: Pay attention to both guide pins (2).

Mount timing case cover (1) on crankcase in direction of arrow.

Abut screws.

NOTE: Dust lip (1) must be facing outwards.

Remove special tool 2 357 900 .

Check installation position of dust lip.

Abut screws (2) crosswise.

Abut screws (1).

Tighten the screws (2) crosswise.

Tightening torque 11 14 1AZ .

Tighten down screws (1).

Tightening torque: 11 13 2AZ .
