11 12 000 Removing and installing/sealing cylinder head cover (B48, B46)

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

Removal: 

Slacken nut (1).

Remove holder (2).

Detach coolant lines (1) from holder.

Attention  !

Have a cleaning cloth ready. A small quantity of engine oil will escape after the screw connection has been released.

Make sure no engine oil runs onto belt drive.

Release screw (1).

Pull off oil feed line (2) from cylinder head.

Release screws in the sequence 15 - 1. 

Remove cylinder head cover.

Replacement: 

Installation: 

NOTE: Replace profile seal (1).

NOTE: The cylinder head cover (1) must not touch the high pressure pump bracket (2) in the marked area.

Position cylinder head cover.

Attention!

Risk of damage to cylinder head cover!

Make sure that the cylinder head cover does not touch the high pressure pump bracket!

Join all cylinder head cover screws for 1/2 revolution in the sequence 1 - 15. 

Tighten cylinder head cover screws in the sequence 1 - 15. 

Tightening torque: 11 12 3AZ .

NOTE: Replace O-ring (1).

Install oil feed line (2).

Tighten screw (1).

Tightening torque 11 42 4AZ .

Clip in coolant line (1) into the holder.

Position holder (2) on cylinder head.

Tighten nut (2).
