Removing and installing/replacing steering column (Cooper Convertible)

Preliminary work needed: 

Removal: 

Feed out the steering column shroud (1) from the instrument cluster holder (2) and the wiring harness (3).

Release clamping bolt (1).

Release steering column from steering shaft (2).

Release nuts (1) on bottom of steering column (2).

Unscrew nuts (1).

Unclip wiring harness holder from steering column.

Carefully remove steering column (2) towards the front.

Installation: 

In case of replacement only:

Remount sheet metal nuts (1).

Carefully insert and position steering column (2) in instrument panel trim.

Secure wiring harness on steering column.

Tighten down nuts (1).

Tightening torque 32 31 1AZ .

Tighten nuts (1) on bottom of steering column (2).

Tightening torque 32 31 1AZ .

Insert steering column into steering shaft (2).

Tighten clamping bolt (1).

Part:  replace clamping bolt (1).

Tightening torque 32 31 3AZ .

Feed the instrument cluster wiring harness (3) through the steering column shroud (1).

Feed instrument cluster holder (2) through steering column shroud (1).

Required follow-up work:
