41 21XXX Replacing left or right C-pillar reinforcement (tail panel and rear quarter panel removed)

Observe REPAIR STAGE 3 .

Use only an approved SPOT WELDER  for repairs.

Following new body parts are required:

  1. C-pillar
  2. C-pillar, inner

Removal: 

Open WELDED CONNECTIONS  in area (1).

Mark severance cut in accordance with dimension and cut.

IMPORTANT: Cut outer metal panel only.

Dimension a = approx. 20 mm from 8 mm dia. hole.

Remove reinforcement on C pillar.

Preparation of new part: 

Mark and cut the severance cut on new part as per the severance cut on the vehicle.

Prepare REINFORCEMENT PLATE  at severance cut.

Prepare new parts for joining by welding.

Adjust new parts in combination with tail panel and side panel.

NOTE: Tail panel serves as a positioning aid in this operation and during installation. New parts are not welded to the tail panel during installation. New parts are joined to the tail panel with bonded rivets.

Installation: 

Install new parts in combination with tail panel.

Weld new parts in areas (1).

NOTE: Do not weld new parts to tail panel.
