41 63 003 Replacing cover bowl

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

IMPORTANT: Deformation of the sheet metal flanges in the side wall and the wheel arch results in permanent vehicle leakage. Carry out removal/installation with great care.

Removal: 

The following new body parts are required:

MINI Cooper S: 

Lift out latch mechanisms (1) and remove cover of fuel filler cap (2).

Removing the FUEL FILLER NECK .

NOTE: The fuel filler neck is only removed until the cover pot is removed.

Once the cover pot has been removed, reinstall the fuel filler neck.

Press sealing cup through to the outside.

Pierce cover bowl at markings (1) with a small screwdriver.

Insert screwdriver to a depth of max. 5 mm and unlock cover bowl latch mechanism.

Hold cover pot gently under tension.

Unlock latch mechanisms on left and right by inserting a screwdriver in the direction of arrow.

IMPORTANT: Do not damage sheet metal flange of side wall.

Screw cover pot (1) out of the side panel in the direction of arrow and remove.

Unlock and disconnect plug connection (1) for actuator drive.

Release cable (2) for emergency operation of fuel filler cap.

Remove cover pot.

Installation: 

Remounting the SERVODRIVE FOR FUEL FILLER FLAP .

Connect the plug connection (1) for the servodrive.

Attach cable (2) for emergency operation of fuel filler cap.

Check central locking system before installation of cover bowl.

IMPORTANT: Do not damage sheet metal flange of side wall.

Install cover pot (1) in the side panel in the direction of arrow.

NOTE: Cover bowl must audibly snap into place 2 times.

NOTE: There must be no discernible gap between sealing lip and side wall in area (1).

Using fitting aid (1), pull seal (2) over sheet metal flange of wheel arch (3).

Check that sealing lip (1) is mounted correctly.

MINI Cooper S: 

NOTE: Latch mechanisms (1) must not be damaged.

MINI Cooper S: 

Install fuel filler cap cover (2).

NOTE: Latch mechanisms (1) must be felt to engage.
