51 16 026 Replacing mirror glass

Special tools required:

00 9 317

WARNING: Move mirror glass with hand carefully and slowly.

If mirror glass is damaged:

Wear protective goggles and cut-proof gloves.

Danger of injury by flaking-off glass splinters.

Bring exterior mirror to room temperature to prevent latch mechanisms from breaking off.

Removal:

NOTE: Secure mirror glass (1) against falling out.

Cables for the mirror heating are very short.

Press the mirror glass (1) on the vehicle side by hand to the full extent.

Affix mirror glass (1) with adhesive tape (2).

Unclip the mirror glass (1) with special tool 00 9 317 by rotating.

If necessary, disconnect related plug connections.

Remove the mirror glass (1).

Installation:

Retaining lugs (1) must not be damaged.

Fit and clip in the mirror glass (2) with the retaining lugs (1) evenly on the engine for mirror adjustment.

Ensure correct locking.

Run a function check.
