Removing and installing/replacing both front brake discs (Cooper Convertible)
Special tools required:
- 34 1 280
Attention!
Brake discs must only be replaced in pairs (per axle).
Fit new brake discs only together with new brake pads.
Preliminary work needed:
- Remove front BRAKE PADS .
Removal:
Unscrew the screws (1).
Remove brake anchor plate (2) in arrow direction and tie up.
Attention!
When removing the brake disc: Do not under any circumstances strike friction ring with a hammer or similar! If necessary, carefully tap with a rubber mallet against the brake disc chamber.
Release screw (1) and remove brake disc (2).
Installation:
Check minimum brake disc thickness:
- Position special tool 34 1 280 at three measuring points in area (1) and measure.
- Compare measurement result and lowest value with setpoint value.
Attention!
New brake pads may only be fitted if the brake disk thickness is greater than the minimum brake disc thickness (MIN TH) See: FRONT BRAKES and REAR BRAKES Technical Data..
Clean contact surface of wheel hub thoroughly and remove any traces of rust if necessary.
Irregularities in the contact surface can cause distortion in the brake disc!
Install brake disc (2).
Insert screw (1) and tighten.
Tightening torque 34 11 1AZ .
Replace screw (1).

Install brake anchor plate (1).
Insert screws (2) and tighten.
Tightening torque 34 11 2AZ .
Replace screw (1).
