Replacing cylinder head gasket (B38 engine) (Cooper Clubman base)

Special tools required: 

• 11 4 470

Preliminary work needed: 

• Remove CYLINDER HEAD .
• Check CYLINDER HEAD FOR WATERTIGHTNESS .
• Check CYLINDER HEAD FOR DEVIATION FROM FLATNESS 

Remove remnants of oil and dirt from blind holes (1).

Do not use any metal-cutting tools (e.g. abrasive cloth).

Check adapter sleeves (1) for damage and firm seating.

The cylinder head gasket (1) can only be checked using the part number.

Installation note: 

If the cylinder head is re-machined, a thicker gasket (+0.3 mm)  is available for Service personnel.
