Replacing radial shaft seal for output shaft on left or right rear axle (AWD)

Special tools required:

00 5 010
32 1 060
31 5 130

NOTE: Radial shaft seal ring are equipped with an installation protection ring. The installation protection ring is used to protect the sealing lip when installing the output shaft.

Preliminary work needed:

Remove either LEFT OUTPUT SHAFT or RIGHT OUTPUT SHAFT

Removal:

Pull out the radial shaft seal (1) with special tool 00 5 010 and 32 1 060.

Installation:

Replace radial shaft seal (2).

Parts : Radial shaft seal

Remove the installation protection ring (1) from the radial shaft seal (2).

Lightly oil housing flange and sealing lips of the new radial shaft seal.

Knock in radial shaft seal with special tool 31 5 130.

Reinsert the installation protection ring (1) into the radial shaft seal (2).

Required follow-up work:

Check transmission OIL LEVEL , correcting if necessary.
