Replace Cover Bowl (Cooper Clubman F54)

Preliminary work needed: 

• Remove right REAR WHEEL .
• Remove rear right WHEEL ARCH COVER .
• Remove FLAP FOR FUEL FILLER NECK .

Removal: 

Following new body parts are required (see applicable BMW Parts Catalog):

1. Cover bowl

Open flap for fuel filler neck.

Press the retaining strap (1) inwards and remove it.

Remove gas cap (2).

Unclip tank vent line (1) from the fuel filler pipe (2).

Release plastic nuts (3).

Slacken nut (1).

Detach the fuel filler pipe (2) from the threaded bolts.

Pierce markings (1) with a small screwdriver.

Cut the Install cover housing along the line (2) approx. 50 mm with a knife.

Insert screwdriver to a depth of max. 5 mm and unlock cover bowl detent.

Hold cover bowl slightly under tension in removal direction.

Unlock detents individually with screwdriver (1) in arrow direction.

Unlock catches in following order:

1. Top left
2. Bottom left
3. Top right
4. Bottom right

Shift screwdriver in opposite direction at both lower catches.

Press fuel filler pipe to rear.

Carefully unscrew the cover housing in arrow direction up to the position shown.

Unlock and disconnect plug connection (1) for actuator drive.

Release pull for emergency release at separation point (2).

Remove cover pot.

Installation: 

Following parts of cover housing not be damaged or missing:

1. Marks
2. Detents, top/bottom
3. Spring
4. Catch
5. Lock (Can be replaced individually).

Carefully insert cover housing up to the position shown and place sealing sleeve over fuel filler pipe.

Press fuel filler pipe to rear when doing this.

Connect plug connection (1) for controller drive and lock it.

Connect pull for emergency release at separation point (2).

Clean contact surface  (1) on body and ground connection at fuel filler pipe.

Ground connection must be guaranteed.

Install cover bowl.

Cover bowl must audibly snap into place 4 times.

There must be no visible gap between sealing lip and side panel in area (1).

Close gas cap.

Insert the retaining strap.

Check seat of fuel filler pipe for correct installation position and correct if necessary.

Tighten nut (1).

Tightening torque 16 11 1AZ .

Tighten plastic nuts (2).

Tightening torque 16 11 5AZ .

Clip tank vent line (3) into holder.

Required reworking: 

• Install FLAP FOR FUEL FILLER NECK .
• Installing the REAR WHEEL ARCH COVER on the right.
• Installing the REAR WHEEL on the right.
