Removing and installing/replacing capacitor (with desiccant insert) for heating and air conditioning system

Special tools required:

00 9 030

WARNING: Injury hazard!
Refrigerant circuit is under high pressure!
Avoid contact with refrigerant and refrigerant oil.
Read and comply with safety instructions:

Follow safety instructions for handling TETRAFLUORETHANE REFRIGERANT R134A or REFRIGERANT R1234YF .
Follow safety instructions for handling REFRIGERANT OIL .

IMPORTANT: Risk of damage!
Restart engine only when air conditioning has been correctly filled.
Follow INSTRUCTIONS for opening and replacing parts in refrigerant circuit!.

NOTE: Desiccant insert cannot be replaced separately.

Preliminary work needed:

Drain off AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM .
Remove front BUMPER COVER .
Remove INTAKE SILENCER HOUSING .
Remove CROSS CONNECTION .

Removal:

Unscrew the screws (1).

Remove strut (2).

Remove screw (1).

Loosen screw (1).

Feed out air duct (2).

Remove screw (1).

Remove refrigerant line (2).

Press radiator slightly forwards from rear.

Unlock left and right detent (1).

Pull capacitor (2) slightly upwards.

Loosen screw (1).

Remove capacitor (2).

Installation:

Position capacitor (3).

Position refrigerant line (2).

Tighten down screws (1).

Tightening torque 64 53 3AZ .

NOTE: The fins on the radiator and condenser should not be damaged.

Replace sealing rings.

Use special tool 00 9 030 to install sealing rings without damaging them.

Capacitor (2) must be engaged in detent (1) on left and right.

Position refrigerant line (2).

Tighten screw (1).

Tightening torque 64 53 3AZ .

NOTE: Replace sealing rings.

Use special tool 00 9 030 to mount sealing rings without damaging them.

Required reworking:

Evacuate and fill A/C SYSTEM .
Install front BUMPER COVER .
Install CROSS CONNECTION .
Install INTAKE SILENCER HOUSING .
