Replacing seat cover for front passenger seat (sport/manual) (Cooper Convertible)

Special tools required: 

WARNING: Injury hazard!
The seat frame has very sharp edges that can cause injuries from cuts.
Exercise extreme caution and wear hand protection as required when carrying out any repair work in the area of the seat frame.

Attention! 

Risk of damage on sharp-edged seat mechanism.

Guide all cables carefully through seat and backrest mechanism.

Make sure cable is routed without kinks and tension.

Make sure plug connections are correctly locked.

Make sure connectors are correctly seated in detents.

Attention! 

US/CDN front passenger seat (with CIS mat) only: 

A faulty facing may only be replaced completely with the CIS mat.

New facing is supplied with CIS mat and, if necessary, seat heating.

After installation, the CIS mat must be enabled with the diagnostic system.

Individual parts not available.

Enabling seat occupancy sensor (CIS mat): 

Attention! 

Preliminary work needed: 

Removal: 

Use of the universal seat mount is recommended for carrying out professional repairs.

Unhook welt (1).

Version with seat heating only: 

Unlock and disconnect connector (2).

Feed out cable.

Attention! 

Feed the wiring harness carefully through the seat and backrest mechanism as the edges of the frame can be sharp.

Equipment specification with ISOFIX: 

Drill out rivet (1).

Take off holder (2).

Remove remnants of rivets.

F56/F57 only:  Detach cable (1) from holders (2 and 3).

Shift the backrest into an upright position.

Release left and right screws (4).

Completely remove the backrest (5) to the top.

If necessary, feed out cable and set aside backrest.

Loosen clips (1) on the left and right side.

Detach all-round piping (1) and remove the seat cover (2) with the facing.

If necessary, feed out cable.

Release all clamps.

Remove seat cover from upholstery.

Attention! 

Remove all remnants of clamps from seat cover and upholstery.

Installation: 

Position seat cover.

Bend new clamps (2) with special tool 52 0 050.

  1. Upholstery
  2. Clamp
  3. Trim wire in upholstery
  4. Trim wire in cover
  5. Seat cover

Parts:  Replace clamps.

Place the seat cover on seat frame.

If necessary, feed in cable.

Place the seat cover (2) with the facing and attach all-round piping (1).

Install clips (1) on the left and right side.

Install backrest (5).

If necessary, feed in cable.

Tighten screws (4) on left and right.

Tightening torque 52 10 2AZ .

F56/F57 only:  Attach cable (1) in holders (2) and (3).

Equipment specification with ISOFIX: 

Attach holder (2) using the rivets (1).

Attach welt (1).

Version with seat heating only: 

Connect connector (2).

Attention! 

Feed the wiring harness carefully through the seat and backrest mechanism as the edges of the frame can be sharp.

Required follow-up work:
