Removing and installing/replacing cable for front engine compartment locks (in engine compartment) (Cooper Convertible)

Preliminary work needed: 

• Remove/replace left engine COMPARTMENT LID LOCK.  and remove/replace right engine COMPARTMENT LID LOCK. .

Removal: 

Unclip deflection (1) from lock carrier (2).

Unclip coupling (1) from lock carrier (2).

Open coupling (1) and disengage cable (3).

Release cable with coupling (1) from retaining clips and feed out.

Installation: 

Feed in cable with coupling (1) and attach in retaining clips.

Clip in coupling (1) into lock carrier (2).

Attach cable (3) and close coupling (1).

Unclip coupling (1) from lock carrier (2).

Open coupling (1) and disengage cable (3).

Release cable with coupling (1) from retaining clips and feed out.

Carry out functional check with hood open.

Required reworking: 

• Install left engine COMPARTMENT LID LOCK.  and install right engine COMPARTMENT LID LOCK. .
