Remove and install/replace the coolant expansion tank (Cooper)

IMPORTANT: Make sure without fail that coolant hoses are correctly routed. Risk of damage due to sharp edges or chafing.

Follow the repair NOTES on the cooling system - Preliminary work needed:

Remove the LEFT HEADLIGHT or LEFT HEADLIGHT - LED TECHNOLOGY
Remove INTAKE SILENCER HOUSING .

Removal: - Release expanding rivet and remove mounting for gasket (1).

Unscrew the screws (1).

Unscrew the screws (1) - Slacken nut (2) - Remove screw (3) - Raise left lock support slightly.

Remove screw (1) - Unlock and detach coolant lines (2) - Unlock coolant line (3) and detach - Catch and dispose of leakage coolant.

Release expanding rivets (1) - Release trim panel and place to side.

Raise left lock support (2) slightly- Raise expansion tank (3) slightly until guide pin (1) is released from guide.

IMPORTANT: Risk of damage! Make sure the guide pin is not damaged.

Thread expansion tank (1) out sideways and remove.

Installation: - Thread expansion tank (1) in sideways.

Raise left lock support (2) slightly- Insert expansion tank (3) with guide pin (1) into guide.

Tighten screw (1) - Tightening torque 17 10 3AZ - Connect coolant lines (2) to expansion tank - Coolant lines (2) must audibly engage - Connect coolant line (3) to expansion tank - Coolant line (3) must audibly engage - Fasten trim panel (2) with expanding rivets (1).

Tighten down nuts (1) - Tightening torque 17 10 7AZ - Tighten down nuts (3) - Tightening torque 17 10 6AZ - Tighten screw (2) - Tightening torque 17 10 5AZ - Tighten down screws (1) - Tightening torque 17 10 8AZ .

Join mounting for gasket (1) and secure with expanding rivet.

Required follow-up work:

Install the LEFT HEADLIGHT or LEFT HEADLIGHT - LED TECHNOLOGY .
Install INTAKE SILENCER HOUSING .

Top up coolant to the appropriate level and VENT the cooling system.
