Notes on film bonding

General notes
- Bonding at room and object temperature of 18 to 25°C.
- Newly painted parts may only be bonded after a drying time of at least 24 hours.
- Optimal bonding with the background surface is achieved after approx. 48 hours. Components must not be exposed to mechanical strain beforehand (car wash, strength test, etc.).
Auxiliary materials and tools
- Spirit, plastic squeegee, needle, cleaning cloth
- Low-surface-tension water
NOTE: Mixture ratio: 3 drops of agent that reduces water surface tension (dish soap) for 1 L tap water.
Preparations
- If necessary, warm up faulty/existing foil with hot air blower and detach
- Remove all adhesive residue or clean new part thoroughly
- Immediately before bonding, use spirit to clean the areas to be bonded to remove silicone and grease residues.
NOTE: Observe ventilation time ≥1 minute.
Bonding
1. 4.1 Wet bonding
  - Wet the adhesive surface thoroughly with low-surface-tension water.
  - Place the foil on the subgrade by detaching backing film and adjusting the position.
    NOTE: For small films, the backing film can be completely detached and the film can be additionally wetted on the adhesive side with low-surface-tension water.
  - Using a plastic squeegee, press down the foil from the inside to the outside with overlapping strokes.
  - Remove the remaining water with a clean cloth.
  - If necessary, carefully and slowly detach protective film in a flat direction.
  - Check the foil for bubbles and creases. If necessary, remove bubbles or creases with plastic squeegee or puncture with needle and squeeze out air or water.
2. 4.2 Dry bonding
  - Detach backing film on adhesive side.
  - Position film in the correct position on the car.
  - Using a plastic squeegee, press down foil with overlapping strokes (watching for bubbles and creasing).
  - If necessary, carefully and slowly detach protective film in a flat direction.
  - If necessary, puncture bubbles with needle and squeeze out air with plastic squeegee.
