Remove and install or replace disengagement module (GS6-58/59 BG/DG) (Cooper)

Preliminary work needed:

Do not disassemble the release module.

Removal:

Release bearing (1) and release lever (2) have been combined to form a single release module.

Do not grease sliding surfaces.

Press wire spring (1) through clutch release lever (2).

Remove disengagement module (2).

Preparation for installation:

When replacing the disengagement module, the ball hub, wire spring and guide sleeve must also be replaced.

Clean all sliding surfaces on release bearing.

Do not grease release bearing.

Installation:

When replacing the disengagement module, the ball hub must also be replaced!

IMPORTANT: Different ball hubs (A) and (B) may be installed in vehicles until 12/2016!

Ball hubs differ in length, diameter and visually by the flat portion (1)! See graphic.

It must be ensured that the same ball hub is installed again!

Non-compliance may lead to damage to the clutch and transmission!

Lightly grease ball hub (2).

Grease:

Lubricant MI-Setral-43 N, BMW part number 83 23 2 152 082

Only for replacement of disengagement module:

Remove wire spring (1).

Carefully remove ball hub (2).

Carefully drive in ball hub (2). The ball hub may be damaged by twisting or when the steering angle of >5°!

Only during replacement of disengagement module:

Loosen screws (1).

Replace guide sleeve (2).

Tightening torque 21 11 1AZ .

Clip in wire spring (1) into disengagement module (2).

Install disengagement module (2).

Required follow-up work:

When a new clutch is installed, the disengagement module, ball hub and guide sleeve must be replaced.
