51 16 254 Removing and installing/replacing the rail (long)

When working on trim panel components, make sure that visible surfaces are not scratched or damaged (e.g. by sharp-edged tools).

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Only for version with center armrest:

Remove CENTER ARMREST

Turn cup holder (1) aside. The required operations are described at:

REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING FRONT CUP HOLDER

Fold down the rear insert mat (1) towards the front.

Installation note:

Mount nipples (3) correctly in holding eyelets (2).

Release the screws (1) of the cover panel (2).

Tightening torque 51 16 6AZ .

Remove the cover panel (2) towards the top.

If necessary, detach and unclip the plug connections (1).

Release the screws (2) from the rail (3).

Tightening torque 51 16 9AZ .

Installation note:

Correctly feed the rail (3) into the locating pin (4).

If necessary, detach and unclip the plug connections (1).

Release the screws (2) and (3) from the rail (4).

Tightening torque 51 16 9AZ .

NOTE: For version with center armrest, screws (3) are discontinued.

Carefully feed out the rail (4) and set aside.

Installation note:

Correctly feed the rail (4) into the locating pin (5).

Replacement:

Modify front and rear insert mats (1).
