11 22 500 Removing and installing or replacing flywheel (N16)

Special tools required:

11 9 590

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove transmission. See REMOVING AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION or REMOVING MANUAL TRANSMISSION .
Remove CLUTCH .

Lock flywheel with special tool 11 9 590 .

Flywheel for automatic transmission.

Release flywheel bolts (1).

Tightening torque: 11 22 1AZ .

Installation note:

Flywheel (1) is secured with an dowel pin.

Fit new flywheel bolts.

Clean crankshaft thread for flywheel bolts.

Flywheel for manual gearbox.

Flywheel with and without dual-mass: unscrew bolts (1).

Installation note:

Flywheel is secured with a dowel pin.

Fit new flywheel bolts.

Tightening torque: 11 22 2AZ .

Installation note:

Reluctor ring (1) is loose on crankshaft and is only held in place when the flywheel is fitted.

Dowel pin (2) for fixing reluctor ring/flywheel.

Assemble engine.
