51 44 001 Removing and installing/replacing headlining (without slide/tilt sunroof)

WARNING: Follow SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS  for working on vehicles with airbag systems.
IMPORTANT: Do not use any sharp-edged tools in area of head airbag (risk of damage to head airbag).

When working on trim panel components, make sure that visible surfaces are not scratched or damaged (e.g. by sharp-edged tools).

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

R55 Clubvan: 

Detach edge protection (1) at top.

Release expanding rivets (2) and (3).

Lay headlining (4) downwards.

Installation note: 

IMPORTANT: First, secure the headlining (4) with expanding rivet (2) and (3) to prevent incorrect installation position or tensioning on the headlining (4).

Tilt roofliner (1) and feed out through side door opening.

NOTE: While removing the headlining (1), do not bend it far enough to kink the headlining (1).
