54 34 159 Removing and installing/replacing left soft top latch

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.

Necessary preliminary tasks:

WARNING: For all repair work, secure soft top with a suitable support tool against collapsing.
Ensure soft top is supported in the middle.

IMPORTANT: Never lift off ball socket with engaged clamp.
Before installation, grease ball socket if necessary.

Installation note:

Pack grease into two opposite positions in socket.

The grease spreads after installation on the ball pin all round in the ball socket.

Dismantling/installing ball sockets:

Remove ball socket (1) from soft top latch (2).

Installation note:

Make sure retaining spring is correctly seated in the ball socket (1).

Unscrew nuts (1).

Tightening torque 54 34 13AZ .

IMPORTANT: Loose spacer bushes and shims at screw connections (1).

Remove soft top latch (2) towards bottom.

Installation note:

Make sure shims (1), short spacer bushes (2) and long spacer bush (3) are correctly installed.

Bolting point A: Shim (1), short spacer bush (2)

Bolting point B: Shim (1), short spacer bush (2)

Bolting point C: Shim (1), long spacer bush (3)
