54 34 005 Removing and installing/replacing hydraulic unit for soft top drive
When working on hydraulic system, observe the following:
- Hydraulic system must be at zero pressure.
- Disconnect feed line and return line as late as possible when the soft top is set down and with the system at zero tension.
- Screw on tank to hydraulic unit once shortly before disconnecting the lines.
Protect components and work area with suitable materials (e.g. cloths).
Make sure that dirt cannot get into the hydraulic circuit.
Follow REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS for hydraulic system.
Do not fit hydraulic lines in kinked, crushed or transposed condition.
Remove floor panel (1) from luggage compartment.
Lift storage box (1) out of luggage compartment.
Opening shut-off valve:
Turn emergency operation screw (1) (if necessary with hexagon socket wrench from toolkit) on hydraulic unit (2) four to five turns in counterclockwise direction up to limit position.
Unfasten plug connection (1) and disconnect.
Unfasten screws (2).
Tightening torque 54 34 2AZ .
Lift out hydraulic unit holder (3) and set down in luggage compartment.
Open acoustic enclosure (1) and lift out hydraulic unit (2).
Release screws (1) on retaining plate.
Detach hydraulic lines (2).
Installation note:
Hydraulic lines and connections are marked with numbers to prevent mix-ups.
Check FLUID LEVEL or top up if necessary.
Fully open and close soft top a minimum of 10 times in order to bleed the hydraulic system.
