41 62 000 Removing And Installing Tailgate

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove PANEL FOR TAILGATE
Disconnect all plug and socket cable connections on tailgate.
Feed out wiring harness from rear lid

WARNING: Danger of injury!
Support tailgate in fully opened position with suitable apparatus.

Slide stop spring (1) to end of gas-filled strut (2) and lever out gas strut. Set down gas strut.

Repeat procedure on other side of car.

Version with automatic tailgate actuation:

Release ELECTRIC SPINDLE DRIVE on tailgate only.

IMPORTANT: Risk of damage!
The automatic tailgate actuation must be taken out of service.
To do this disconnect plug connection on the CONTROL MODULE for automatic rear lid actuation.

Operation is described on the left side. Right side identical.

Release screws (1) and remove reinforcement bridge.

Release screws (2) and remove rear lid.

Tightening torque 41 62 1AZ .

Remove rear lid with the assistance of a second person.

Installation note:

Install tailgate at screw locations on hinge. This dispenses with the need for adjustment after installation.

If necessary, adjust REAR TRUNK LID .

If reversing camera optional equipment installed

Calibrate REVERSING CAMERA .
