51 34 154 Adjusting rear left or right front window
Special tools required:
Prerequisite:
- Vehicle must be standing on its wheels on a level floor
- The REAR DOOR IS CORRECTLY fit
- Only verify the WINDOW GAP after the power window has been removed
If necessary, incoming check
Prior to any adjustments, perform the following incoming checks:
- Delete the initialization of the POWER WINDOW REGULATOR
- Measure retraction depths with special tool 2 304 553 .
- Insert the special tool 51 0 370 (green) into the rotary striker and close the rotary striker
- 51 0 342Measure preload with special tool
- Initialize the POWER WINDOW REGULATORS
Ideal setting in the longitudinal direction (rear window glass, fixed)
Measure distance (A) from the C-pillar cover (2) or the side window to the fixed rear door window (1).
Distance (A):
A = 4.7 ± 0, 8 mm with C-pillar cover (2)
A = 10 mm without C-pillar cover (2)
Ideal setting of the retraction depth (rear window glass, fixed)
- Open rear door
- Insert and hold special tool 2 304 553 onto door window glass and hold
- Close rear door
- Measure retraction depth
Measure retraction depth (C) in area (A).
Retraction depth (C):
A = 2.8 ± 0.7 mm
Distance from measuring point to window guide = 10 mm
Ideal setting in the longitudinal direction (rear window glass, retractable)
Measure distance (A) from the B-pillar cover (1) to the rear door window glass (3).
Distance (A):
A = 8 ± 0.8 mm
B= 50 mm from roof frame strip(2)
Ideal setting of the retraction depth (rear window glass, retractable)
- Open rear door
- Attach special tool 2 304 553 to door window glass
- Close rear door
- Measure retraction depth
Measure retraction depth (C) in areas (A and B).
Retraction depth (C):
A = 2.8 ± 0.7 mm
Distance from measuring point to window edge = 20 mm
B= 2.8 ± 0.7 mm
Distance from measuring point to window guide = 20 mm
Setting the longitudinal direction/retraction depth (rear window glass, fixed)
Remove OUTER WINDOW CAVITY COVER STRIP
Slacken multipoint head cap screws (1) with special tool 51 3 240 until door window glass can just be moved.
Loosen the collar nut (1) through the service opening (2) using the special tool 51 3 300 .
Tightening torque 51 35 3AZ .
Mount special tool 51 3 220 to door window glass (1).
Set the retraction depth and the position in the longitudinal direction of the door window glass (1).
Tighten down multipoint head cap screw (1) with special tool 51 3 240 .
Tightening torque 51 35 1AZ .
Check adjustment, repeat procedure if necessary.
Setting the longitudinal direction/retraction depth (rear window glass, retractable)
Remove OUTER WINDOW CAVITY COVER STRIP
Slacken multipoint head cap screw (1) with special tool 51 3 240 until door window glass can be moved.
Attach special tool 51 3 010 to door window glass.
Measure and adjust the longitudinal direction of the door window glass to the B-pillar cover with the special tool51 0 342.
Adjust the retraction depth of the door window glass in the B-pillar area and the window guide.
Tighten down multipoint head cap screw (1) with special tool 51 3 240 .
Tightening torque 51 35 1AZ .
Check adjustment, repeat procedure if necessary.
Ideal setting, preload
Insert the special tool 51 0 370 in the rotary striker of the door lock and close the rotary striker manually (activation of the short stroke).
Close the door carefully up to the point where the special tool 51 0 370 magnetically adheres to the striker (= defined door opening angle for measurement).
No force must be exerted on the door or door window glass during measurement.
Slide the special tool 51 0 342 at a distance (B) to the door window glass side edge into the gasket (up to the sheet metal flange limit position) and measure dimension (A) to the outer edge of the door window glass (2).
Dimension (A) with weather strip:
A = 65 ±1 mm
Dimension (A) without weather strip:
A = 66 ±1 mm
B = 10 mm
Adjust preload
Slacken nut (3) with reversible ratchet (2) of special tool 51 3 300 (consisting of 51 3 301 , 51 3 303 and 51 3 304 ).
Turn knob (1) on special tool 51 3 300 to turn bolt (4) and thereby alter the pre-tension.
Tighten nut (3).
Tightening torque 51 35 4AZ .
Check adjustment, repeat procedure if necessary.
Soft-Close-Automatic design:
To ensure the adjustment clearance in area (A), the Bowden cable (1) of the Automatic Soft Close system must lie in the recess in area (B) (risk of damage).
Bring rear door window glass into uppermost position.
Slacken nut (3) with reversible ratchet (2) of special tool 51 3 300 (consisting of 51 3 301 , 51 3 303 and 51 3 304 ).
In the relaxed position of the adjustment device, use the knob (1) of the special tool 51 3 300 to block the pin (4).
Tighten nut (3).
Tightening torque 51 35 4AZ .
Check adjustment, repeat procedure if necessary.
