12 62 500 Replacing coolant temperature sensor (N14)

WARNING: Danger of scalding!
Only carry out work on the cooling system after the engine has cooled down!
IMPORTANT: Gaiter and charge-air hoses with clamp fastenings must be installed dry and free from grease!
Sealing faces and fittings must be dry and free from grease.
If gaiter and charge-air hoses with clamp fastenings are not installed dry and free from grease, this may result in turbocharger failure!

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

Installation location: 

On cylinder head, left.

Coolant can escape when coolant temperature sensor is being replaced. Catch and dispose of coolant.

Release clamps (2).

Remove rubber gaiter (3).

Remove intake pipe (4).

Installation: 

Install gaiter (3) dry and free from grease.

Fitting on turbocharger must be dry and free from grease.

Unlock and detach plugs (1 and 3).

Unlock and disconnect line (2).

Carefully pull cable duct (4) upwards slightly.

Unlock plug (1) and remove.

Detach lock (2) and remove coolant temperature sensor (3).

Installation: 

NOTE: Now clear the fault memory.
