54 34 380 Removing and installing/replacing roof crossbar

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

Open folding sunroof a few centimeters to relieve tension on soft top fabric.

Pull off trim (1) towards rear.

Detach soft top fabric (1) from front bow (2).

Installation: 

Replace double-sided adhesive tape.

Unclip front plastic catches (1) in marked area.

Remove soft top fabric (2) from front bow (front) in direction of arrow.

Detach tension cable (1) at side from roof frame.

Installation: 

Secure tension cable (1) to front bow with insulating tape.

Drill out blind rivets (1).

Remove roofliner (2) in front area.

Unlock plug connections (1) and disconnect.

Lever out clip.

Installation: 

Replace faulty clip.

Release screws (1).

Carefully lift link (2) from frame over threaded bushes.

Disengage roof crossbar from frame.

Retaining hook must lock correctly underneath  the stowage lock.
