54 34 196 Removing and installing/replacing both stowage locks

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

Installation note: 

Disconnect plug connection (1) from hall effect sensor. Unclip cable from body.

Vehicles built before 12/2011: Slide towards front cover (1) up to limit position and then feed out towards top.

On vehicles from 12/2011: Release screw (1).

Only left side on vehicles from 12/2011: Carefully raise cover (1). Pull off hall effect sensor (2) from cover (1). Installation note: Make sure hall effect sensor (2) is fitted correctly on cover (1). Hall effect sensor (2) must be fitted in recess (3) up to limit position.

Open soft top locking (1) on stowage lock (2). Move soft top a little in the "close" direction.

Release screws (1). Carefully raise soft top (2) and feed out stowage lock (3) towards rear.

Installation note: Feed hall effect sensor (1) through lower section (2) and upper part (3) of stowage lock. Screw upper part (3) to lower section (2) (4).

Installation note: Screw left and right stowage locks hand-tight with new screws (1). Adjust stowage lock. Open and close soft top approx. ten times, this ensure the stowage lock positioning is correct. Tighten screws (1) of stowage lock. Tightening torque 54 34 15AZ.

Installation note: Check limit position height of limit stop pad (1) on soft top frame (2). Dimension A = 33 mm For conversion to new stowage locks, left and right limit stop pads (1) must be replaced.
