12 42 520 Removing and installing/replacing positive battery lead (between alternator and positive battery terminal on cylinder head cover) (M60, M62)

Instructions for disconnecting and connecting battery, refer to 12 00 Instructions For Disconnecting And Connecting Battery .

Switch off ignition.

Remove battery negative line.

Unfasten clips (1).

If fitted, unfasten hose clip (2) on air intake hose for air pump.

Disconnect plug-in connection (3).

Unfasten hose clip (4).

Remove upper section of suction filter housing with mass air flow sensor.

Remove accelerator cables (1 and 2).

Accelerator pedal
Cruise control

Remove complete throttle assembly, refer to 13 54 060 REMOVING AND INSTALLING OR REPLACING THROTTLE BODY (ASC+T) (M60, M62) .

Unfasten screw connection on oil filter.

Place oil filter to one side.

Disconnect alternator connections.

Disconnect alternator connections.

Unfasten plug connection (1).

Unfasten nut (2).

Tightening torque, see 12 13 1AZ in ENGINE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM - TIGHTENING TORQUE .
