12 41 020 Removing and installing/replacing starter motor

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Switch off ignition
Disconnect battery, refer to 12 00 Disconnecting and connecting battery
Remove exhaust manifold, refer to 11 62 000 REMOVING AND INSTALLING, SEALING/REPLACING EXHAUST MANIFOLD

Unscrew bolt (1).

Release retaining clip (2).

Remove heat shield.

Tightening torque 12 41 1AZ. Refer to ENGINE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM - TIGHTENING TORQUES .

Disconnect battery positive lead (1).

Tightening torque 12 41 2AZ. Refer to ENGINE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM - TIGHTENING TORQUES .

Unscrew nut (2).

Tightening torque 12 41 3AZ. Refer to ENGINE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM - TIGHTENING TORQUES .

NOTE: Pay attention to cable routing. (Do not lay cable over solenoid switch.)
