51 22 090 Removing and installing/replacing door lock on left or right rear door

NOTE: Close window on rear door then open the other windows.
Disconnect battery negative lead, refer to 12 00... INSTRUCTIONS FOR DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING BATTERY .

Remove door trim panel, refer to 51 42 000 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR LEFT OR RIGHT DOOR TRIM PANEL .

NOTE: To release or partially detach sound insulation, follow procedure in "Removing and installing/replacing sound insulation on left or right rear door", refer to 51 48... REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING SOUND INSULATION IN REAR DOOR, LEFT OR RIGHT .

Partially pull off rear acoustic insulation and secure with adhesive tape.

Unfasten screws.

Disconnect Bowden cable nipple (1) and Bowden cable guide (2) from door lock (3).

Pull door lock slightly downwards.

Unhook cable (1) from door lock (2) with plier tips.

Unlock/remove connector (1) and remove door lock.

Only replace:

Lift out lock (1) and pull drive unit (2) (door lock mechanism) from door lock.

Disconnect actuating rod (3).
