Power Steering Gear: Installation

  1. To install, reverse removal procedure. Replace self-locking nuts and tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  2. Note position of steering spindle. See Figure.
  3. Replace sealing rings. Install line with rubber grommet in bracket. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  4. Install tie rod. Replace self-locking nuts and tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  5. Bleed power steering system. See BLEEDING POWER STEERING SYSTEM .
  6. If the steering gear is replaced, adjust the front axle after installation. See ADJUSTING FRONT AXLE (WITH KDS)  under ADJUSTMENTS.
