54 34 012 Removing and installing/replacing hydraulic cylinder for convertible top

Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Observe 54 34... Repair Instructions For Hydraulic System Of Convertible Top And Convertible Top Compartment Lid on EH convertible top.
- Remove convertible top . See 54 34 101 Removing And Installing Complete Convertible Top .
- Remove hydraulic unit . See 54 34 005 Removing And Installing/Replacing Hydraulic Unit For Convertible Top Drive .
Installation:
- Using scan tool, carry out operational check .
- Check fluid level, remove/replenish if necessary. See OPERATING FLUIDS - SUNROOF AND CONVERTIBLE TOP .
- Check convertible top adjustment.
Release screws (1); if necessary, raise convertible top slightly and remove microswitch (2).
NOTE:

Disconnecting hydraulic lines :
- Cut through cable ties
- Remove clips
- Pull out hydraulic line at top
- Unscrew plate
- Pull out hydraulic line at bottom
NOTE:
Seal hydraulic lines with caps (sourcing reference: BMW Parts Service).
Installation:
Pay attention to routing and seating of hydraulic lines.
Unfasten cable tie (1).
Release screw (2).
Tightening torque, see 54 31 14AZ in SLIDE/TILT ROOF AND CONVERTIBLE TOP - TIGHTENING TORQUES .
Release and remove pin (3).
Unclip cover.
Mark position of screw heads (1).
Release screws and remove main support/cylinder.
Installation:
Fit thin spacer between bracket and frame.
Return screws to their original location, then tighten down screws.
Tightening torque, see 54 31 12AZ in SLIDE/TILT ROOF AND CONVERTIBLE TOP - TIGHTENING TORQUES .
Replacement only:
- Release screws (1) and remove shims (2).
- If necessary, remove hardtop mounting . See 54 31 200 Removing And Installing/Replacing Hard Top Mounting .
