18 10 ... Replacing mounting bracket for vibration absorber on exhaust system

NOTE: Only MINI ONE and MINI COOPER up to 10/2001.

Necessary Preliminary Tasks:

Remove reinforcement plate for exhaust system. Refer to 18 21 051 REPLACING ALL EXHAUST SUSPENSION ELEMENTS .
Remove vibration absorber on exhaust system. Refer to 18 10 070 REPLACING VIBRATION ABSORBER ON EXHAUST SYSTEM AT REAR (W10) .

Make a mark (1) on the exhaust system before removing the mounting bracket.

Mount upper bracket.

Mount lower bracket (1) on upper bracket (2) and fit screw (3). Align weld hole (4) in upper bracket with mark on exhaust pipe.

Tightening torque, refer to 18 00 6AZ in EXHAUST SYSTEM - TIGHTENING TORQUES - COOPER (1.6L) R50/W10 .
