11 14 151 Replacing crankshaft radial seal

Special Tools Required: 

Remove transmission. Refer to REMOVAL & INSTALLATION - AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION .

Remove flywheel. Refer to 11 22 500 REMOVING AND INSTALLING OR REPLACING FLYWHEEL .

Remove radial shaft seal with special tool 23 0 490.

Clean surfaces of cylinder block and crankshaft seal.

Installation: 

Fit special tool 11 8 220 on crankshaft.

Push radial shaft seal onto special tool 11 8 220.

Installation: 

Install radial shaft seal with special tool 00 5 500 in conjunction with special tool 11 8 230 in cylinder block.

Make sure radial shaft seal is flush with cylinder block.

CAUTION: The sealing lip is highly sensitive and must not under any circumstances be torn or kinked. Do not touch the sealing lip with your fingers.
