11 12 000 Removing and installing/sealing cylinder head cover (W10)

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove ignition coil block. Refer to 12 13 513 REPLACING IGNITION COIL .
Remove connector strip for fuel injectors.

Remove hose (1).

Detach crankcase breather valve (2).

Detach plug connector from ignition coil block (3).

Detach spark plug connectors (4).

Remove wiring harness retaining clips from valve cover screws.

Remove valve cover screws.

Remove cylinder head cover. Refer to 11 12 000 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/SEALING CYLINDER HEAD COVER (W10) .

Installation:

Check valve cover seal, replace if necessary.

Remove retaining screws from cylinder head cover.

Check rubber elements, replace if necessary.

Clean mating surfaces with suitable materials.

Installation:

Tighten down bolts in sequence 1 to 12.

Tightening torque, refer to 11 12 1AZ in ENGINE - TIGHTENING TORQUES- COOPER (1.6L) R50/W10 .

IMPORTANT: Tighten down cylinder head cover in two operations.

Assemble engine.
