17 11 031 Replacing fan cowl (M54)

Remove fan impeller with fan clutch from water pump. See Figure or 17 40 000 Removing and installing/replacing complete supplementary fan (with fan cowl)

Remove coolant expansion tank from fan cowl. See 17 11 100 Removing and installing/replacing coolant expansion tank

NOTE: Coolant lines remain connected.

Remove auxiliary water pump from fan cowl. See 17 40 000 Removing and installing/replacing complete supplementary fan (with fan cowl)

NOTE: Coolant lines remain connected.

Unclip AUC sensor.

Lever out expansion rivets (1) on left and right.

Detach sealing strip (2).

Installation:

Pay attention to installation position of sealing strip.

Lift out fan cowl and fan impeller together.

Installation:

Attach fan cowl in retaining lugs at bottom and sides.
