51 21 280 Removing and installing or replacing door stop on left or right front door

Remove door trim panel, refer to 51 41 000 REMOVING AND INSTALLING FRONT LEFT OR RIGHT DOOR TRIM PANEL (Z3 ROADSTER, M ROADSTER, Z3 COUPE, M COUPE) .

Pull off inner foil and/or part of front acoustic insulation.

NOTE: To prevent damage to paintwork, mask the area around the rivet with fabric adhesive tape.

Slide rubber grommet to one side and, if necessary, unfasten cable strap.

Pull lock plate off towards rear.

Drive rivet out in upwards direction.

Pull off rubber grommet.

New Build Status:

To brace a socket nut (1) (e.g. size 10 mm), mask with fabric adhesive tape (damage to paintwork) and use hammer (500 grammes).

Drive rivet (2) upwards to remove.

New Build Status:

Installation:

Insert lug (1) in bore. Fit tab (2) on rivet (3) facing door. Pull off fabric adhesive tape (4).

Unfasten screws.

Push retarder upwards into door and remove.
