17 11 000 Removing and installing radiator (Z3/M54)

CAUTION: Danger of scalding! Open cap on expansion tank only after engine has cooled down.

Unlock plug and detach from temperature switch.

Drain off coolant. Refer to 17 00 005 DRAINING AND TOPPING UP COOLANT .

Remove fan cowl. Refer to 17 11 031 REPLACING FAN COWL (Z3 M54) .

Follow instructions for working on cooling system. Refer to 17 00 ...INSTRUCTIONS FOR WORKING ON COOLING SYSTEM. .

Release retaining clip (1) and detach vent hose (2).

Cut off hose connector (1).

Release clips on coolant hoses (2) and (3).

Detach top coolant hose (4) and bottom coolant hose (5).

Release both retainers on radiator.

On vehicles with Automatic Transmission .

Release retaining screws on radiator panel at bottom.

Remove cover.

Slide radiator upwards and pull towards rear out of rests.

Release screws on oil cooler for automatic transmission at bottom.

Release screws on oil cooler for automatic transmission at top.

Remove oil cooler (1).

Pull out radiator and remove.

Installation:

Attach retaining lugs to radiator on left and right and press forcefully downwards.

Catch must be heard to engage several times.

Installation:

Place a screwdriver underneath lug of retainers and retighten.

Installation:

Position radiator on supports (1).

Installation:

Pay attention to rubber mounts (1) on left and right.
