11 65 180 Removing and installing/replacing top heat shield (S63)

IMPORTANT: Do not carry out test drives without heat shield (risk of fire!) .

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove ENGINE COVER .
Remove both control sensors. See REPLACING LEFT CONTROL SENSOR and REPLACING RIGHT CONTROL SENSOR .
Remove DME CONTROL UNITS HOLDER .

Release retaining clip (1).

Detach wire ring (2) and set down behind oxygen sensor.

Release bolts (1) through 180°.

Tightening torque 11 65 3AZ .

Lift out heat shield.

Installation note:

Clip in heat shield (1) into retaining clip, see arrow.

Assemble engine.
