11 12 005 Removing and installing/sealing left cylinder head cover (S63T 0)

Special tools required: 

• 11 4 470

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Disconnect NEGATIVE TERMINAL .
• Remove ACOUSTIC COVER 
• Remove left INTERCOOLER .
• Remove INTAKE SILENCER HOUSING .
• Remove coolant valve for heater feed line.
• Disconnect FUEL DELIVERY LINE .
• Detach wiring harness for injectors and lay to one side.
• Remove IGNITION COILS , cylinders 5-8.
• Remove HIGH PRESSURE PUMP .
• Remove INJECTORS , cylinders 5-8.
• Remove CATALYTIC CONVERTERS , cylinders 5-8.
• Remove EXHAUST TURBOCHARGERS , cylinders 5-8.

Release screws (1).

Remove holder (2).

Tightening torque: 11 12 4AZ .

Release screws (1).

Remove heat shield (2).

Tightening torque: 11 65 4AZ .

Release screw connection in sequence (16 to 1).

Remove cylinder head cover.

Clean sealing surface (1) with special tool 11 4 470 .

Installation note: 

Renew profile seals (1 and 2) of cylinder head cover.

Installation note: 

It is important to join screw (15 and 16) for exact positioning of the camshaft sensors.

Mount cylinder head covers.

Position screw (15 and 16).

Release screws again by a 90° turn.

Secure cylinder head cover in sequence (1 to 17) in two work steps.

Tightening torque 11 12 3AZ .

Assemble engine.
