51 41 017 Removing and installing or replacing cover on door handle, front left or right

Special tools required: 

• 64 1 020

When working on trim panel components, make sure that visible surfaces are not scratched or damaged (e.g. by sharp-edged tools).

Unclip cover (1) starting from below using special tool 64 1 020 from clamps (2) and latch mechanisms.

Feed out cover (1) from retaining hook (3).

Installation note: 

Install the cover (1) as follows:

• Feed in top retaining hook (3)
• Position on clamps (2) and side latch mechanisms
• Feed in bottom retaining hooks (3)
• Clip in to door trim panel

Installation note: 

Retaining hooks (1) and latches on cover (2) must not be missing or damaged.

Installation note: 

Clamp (1) may bend up when dismantling the cover.

Bend clamp (1) back by approx. 45° if necessary.

Replace faulty clamps.

Make sure installation location of clamps (2 and 3) is correct.

• Clamps (2) silver
• Clamps (3) black

To replace clamps, disassemble (1) door handle  See 51 41 019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING OR REPLACING DOOR HANDLE ON DOOR TRIM, FRONT LEFT OR RIGHT  or 51 42 019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING OR REPLACING DOOR HANDLE ON DOOR TRIM, REAR LEFT OR RIGHT .
