11 53 000 Removing and installing/replacing coolant thermostat (N20, N26)

WARNING: Risk of scalding!
Only perform this work after engine has cooled down.

Recycling

Observe country-specific waste disposal regulations.

Catch and dispose of drained coolant in a suitable container.

IMPORTANT: Protect plug connections against coolant and contamination.
Cover plug connections with suitable materials.

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove top CLEAN AIR PIPE
Remove ENGINE VENTILATION LINE

Disconnect plug connection (1).

Disconnect coolant hoses (2-4) on thermostat with CLAMPING TONGS .

Disconnect coolant hoses (2-4) from thermostat.

Release screws (5) and remove thermostat.

Tightening torque: 11 53 1AZ .

Assemble engine.

Top up COOLANT .

VENT COOLING SYSTEM .
