11 12 000 Removing and installing/sealing cylinder head cover (N47)

IMPORTANT:
When working on the oil, coolant or fuel circuit, you must protect the alternator against contamination.
Cover alternator with suitable materials.
Cover alternator with suitable materials.
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove acoustic cover at front.
- REMOVE acoustic cover at rear.
- Remove SOUND INSULATION from center bulkhead upper part
- Remove all injectors . See 13 53 315 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING ALL INJECTORS OF INJECTION SYSTEM (N47) or 13 53 315 REMOVING AND REFITTING/REPLACING ALL INJECTORS IN FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM (N47 WITH SCR) .
- Remove pressure accumulator . See 13 53 158 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING THE PRESSURE ACCUMULATOR OF THE INJECTION SYSTEM (N47) or 13 53 158 REMOVING AND REFITTING/REPLACING PRESSURE ACCUMULATOR OF FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM (N47 WITH SCR) .
- Loosen engine wiring harness in vicinity of cylinder heat cover
Release screw (1).
Turn complete oil filler neck (1) clockwise by approx. 25°.
Remove oil filler neck (1) towards top.
Installation note:
Check O-ring for damage.
Undo screws (1) from positive battery cable.
Push locking (1) together and pull off the crankcase vent hose (2).
Disconnect the cable connections (1).
Unfasten screws (2).
Fold the carrier plate away in direction of arrow.
Release screws (1 and 2).
Release screws (1).
Remove cylinder head cover by lifting it out.
Installation note:
Replace profile seals (1 and 2).
Assemble engine.
Check engine for leak tightness.
