54 10 100 Removing and installing glass tilt sunroof cover

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove FRONT COVER

NOTE: Following steps must be carried when glass tilt sunroof cover is open otherwise the Torx screws could completely loosen.
Additionally, access for levering out is made easier
Open floating headlining fully.
Make sure that grease on the rails and mechanism does not come into contact with roofliner.

Installation note:

Microencapsulated screws (Loctite) must be replaced and may not be reused
Screw connection must be completed within 20 minutes (start of curing)
Microencapsulated screws must not be retightened
Clean thread of nut beforehand in event of repeated use

Release Torx screws (1).

Installation note:

Apply Loctite to Torx screws.

Carefully pull left and right outer gaiter (1) out of groove of glass tilt sunroof cover (2).

Partially raise glass tilt sunroof cover.

Installation note:

Align gaiter at rear edge of glass tilt sunroof cover.

Use plastic wedge to press gaiter into glass tilt sunroof cover.

IMPORTANT: A second person is required to help in removing and installing the glass tilt sunroof cover.

Uniformly raise rear of glass tilt sunroof cover (1) until access from the side (2) is possible.

Lever out glass tilt sunroof cover.

Installation note:

Tape off installation area on left and right at roof aperture with fabric adhesive tape.

Carefully and uniformly insert glass tilt sunroof cover.

Tighten Torx screws only so far that glass tilt sunroof cover can just be adjusted.

Close glass slide/tilt sunroof panel; check for correct ALIGNMENT and adjust if necessary.

Tighten Torx screws.

Tightening torque 54 10 01AZ .
