Special tools required:

IMPORTANT: It is imperative that you follow the GENERAL INFORMATION  on handling the carbon ceramic brake (CSiC).
Refer to ASSESSING THE APPEARANCE OF CARBON CERAMIC BRAKE DISCS  to evaluate the visible quality of new carbon ceramic brake discs.
After completing repair work, read and comply with notes on BREAKING-IN NEW BRAKE DISCS/BRAKE PADS .

Necessary preliminary tasks:

NOTE: Check the carbon ceramic brake discs for WEAR  using the wear indicators
Replacement of a single brake disc (at front or rear axle) is approved for repair operations.
We recommend replacing both brake discs on an axle (especially on the front) during repairs owing to the danger that the brakes will otherwise pull to one side during the running-in phased and the associated risk that a repeat repair will be necessary.
At the same time, it is not absolutely imperative from the technical perspective. The decision ultimately should be made on a case-by-case basis, according to the wear on the pads and their wear and contact patterns.

IMPORTANT: To release brake disc: Do not under any circumstances strike friction ring with a hammer or similar.
If necessary, carefully tap on base of brake disc chamber with a rubber mallet.
Clean contact surface of brake disc at wheel hub thoroughly and remove traces of corrosion.
Unevenness on contact surface may result in distortion of brake disc.

Release both screws (1) and carefully feed carbon ceramic brake disc (2) out of brake caliper.

NOTE: Brake caliper is moved backwards on the stud bolt (see also REMOVING BRAKE CALIPER ).
If required, completely remove brake caliper and suspend on spring strut

Installation note:

Replace screws.
