61 31 321 Removing and installing radio and A/C control panel

IMPORTANT: Risk of damage.

A hard disk is installed in the Car Information Computer (CIC).

Carry out mechanical work on the CIC and adjacent components with care.

Avoid subjecting the CIC to vibration/shocks.

IMPORTANT: Read and comply with notes on protection against electrostatic discharge (ESD PROTECTION) .
IMPORTANT: Carry out installation in a dust-free workshop area only.
To avoid damage, do not touch or dirty the display field.

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

Disengage the cover (2) below the radio and AC control panel (1) toward the front.

Installation note: 

Retaining tabs on the cover (1) must not be damaged.

If necessary, replace cover (1).

Release screws (1).

Remove radio and IHKA controls (2).

Unlock plug connections behind and disconnect.

IMPORTANT: Assign keypad depending on optional equipment  .

Replacement: 

Carry out VEHICLE PROGRAMMING/ENCODING .
