51 41 000 Removing and installing left or right front door trim panel

Special tools required: 

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

Pry out cover (1) in direction of arrow.

Installation note: 

Make sure cover (1) is correctly seated on gasket (2).

Passenger's side only: 

Unclamp handle cover (2) on door trim panel (1) using special tool 00 9 327 .

Release screw found behind it on handle.

Tightening torque 51 41 1AZ .

Release screw (2) from door trim panel (1).

Tightening torque 51 41 1AZ .

Beginning at the bottom, unclip door trim panel (1) along its entire perimeter using special tool 00 9 325 .

Apply special tool 00 9 325 in vicinity of each securing eye (1) between sealing lip (2) and door trim panel (3) and slide slightly under door trim panel (3).

Unclamp securing eye (1) from door trim panel (3) by levering it out using the special tool.

IMPORTANT: Door trim panel is secured on rotary clip (2) with clamp (1).

It can only be detached by shifting it (see next operation).

IMPORTANT:
  1. Grasp the door trim panel at the top on the shoulder and under the map pocket, and pull it away from the door slightly.
  2. Pull the door trim panel up in the direction of the arrow to release the clamps from the rotary clip.

Disengage Bowden cable (1) for release lever first at counter support (2) and then at door lock (3).

Installation note: 

Perform function check for door inside handle with door open and rotary striker lock closed.

Feed out door wiring harness from all brackets.

Unlock and disconnect all plug connections, then remove door trim panel.

Installation note: 

If necessary, replace faulty clips (1).

Fit all clips (1) with sealing ring.

Installation note: 

Make sure Bowden cable (1) is in correct position.

Feed in Bowden cable (1) in area (A) correctly into door trim panel.

An incorrectly routed Bowden cable can cause door lock malfunctions.

Installation note: 

After assembling the door trim panel proceed as follows:
