84 10 800 Removing and installing Combox

Necessary preliminary work:
- Disconnect BATTERY EARTH LEAD
- REMOVE BACKREST
- Remove front air outlet ornamental grille (only on vehicles which still do not have splash protection film on the Combox). See 51 46 026 REMOVING AND INSTALLING OR REPLACING FRONT AIR OUTLET TRIM GRILLE .
Unfasten aerial connectors (1) and disconnect.
Unlock plug connections (2) and disconnect.
Unscrew nuts (3).
Remove Combox (4).
Installation note:
Observe color coding of aerial connectors (1).
Replacement:
- Carry out VEHICLE PROGRAMMING/ENCODING
For vehicles with Teleservices optional equipment:
- Update services via menu in the central information display.
NOTE:
In vehicles built after 09/2011 the Combox (3) is provided with splash protection film (2).
When removing and installing or replacing the Combox (3) attach splash protection film (2) to all vehicles.
- Remove protective film (1) from splash protection film (2).
- Fold up splash protection film (2) as pictured.
- Remove remaining protective film from splash protection film (2). Stick splash protection film (2) as pictured on holder of Combox (3).
Install Combox with holder (3) in vehicle, replace aerial lines (see next operation) and connect plug connections.
- Stick splash protection film (2) as pictured on Combox (3).
Lay aerial line (1) as pictured, secure and form a loop at point (2).
