51 23 110 Removing and installing/replacing left engine compartment lid lock

Necessary preliminary work: 

Slacken screws (1) and release screws (2).

Tightening torque 51 61 4AZ .

Pull back retaining spring from release lever (1).

Feed Bowden cable (2) out of release lever (1) and lock carrier (3).

Engine compartment lid catch with microswitch: 

Detach plug connection (1) by twisting from catch carrier.

Unlock plug connection (1) and disconnect.

Release screws (1) on engine compartment lid lock (2).

Tightening torque 51 23 2AZ .

Push engine compartment lid lock (1) inwards until lock carrier (2) can be raised at the rear (see dashed line).

Lift out engine compartment lid lock (1) at rear.

If necessary, feed out cable from microswitch for anti-theft alarm system.

Remove engine compartment lid lock (1).
