51 71 480 Removing and installing/replacing cross reinforcement (on rear axle) (N55, N63)

Driving without the trailing link is not permitted!

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove TRAILING LINKS ON LEFT AND RIGHT .
Release rear silencer See 18 00 020 REMOVING AND INSTALLING COMPLETE EXHAUST SYSTEM (N55) or 18 00 020 REMOVING AND INSTALLING COMPLETE EXHAUST SYSTEM (N63) or 18 00 020 REMOVING AND INSTALLING COMPLETE EXHAUST SYSTEM (N63) and lower slightly.

Release nuts of heat shield (3) and lower heat shield (3).

Unscrew nuts (1).

Tightening torque 51 61 14AZ .

Unfasten screws (2).

Tightening torque 51 61 13AZ .

Remove cross reinforcement (4).
